High-low arrangement
First more, then less pension
If you opt for the high-low arrangement, you will first have more and later less pension income. With the high-low arrangement you can influence the amount of your pension in a certain period.
Tip
Do you want to know what the high-low arrangement means for you? Calculate it in the Pension Planner.
Go to MijnPPFWhat is the high-low arrangement?
With the high-low arrangement you can adjust the level of your retirement pension to your personal wishes. You will then have a higher pension up to a certain age and a lower pension in the subsequent period. Do you want to make use of the high-low arrangement? Then state this in the Pension Planner on MijnPPF under High-low scheme.
How high is your pension?
The amount of your pension is stated in the Pension Planner on MijnPPF. In the Pension Planner we assume that you do not use the high-low arrangement as standard.
What are your choices?
You can choose the age up to which you want to receive the higher pension. You can choose from your AOW age or 72 years. We call this the high-low age. In addition, you can choose from three options for the level of the retirement pension.
- The lowest pension is 75% of the highest pension.
- The lowest pension is 82% of the highest pension.
- The lowest pension is 90% of the highest pension.
Making a choice, how do you do that?
What level of pension do you choose? And for what age? When making your choice, consider these things.
- Do you have extra expenses in the first years after your retirement? For example because you want to travel, you still have children studying or have high mortgage costs?
- Do you have a lower income in the first years of your pension? For example, because you have a younger partner with no income?
What does this mean for your pension?
Do you opt for the high-low arrangement? Then you will receive a higher pension up to your AOW age or age 72 than after that. The more pension you receive before the chosen high-low age, the lower your pension is after this age. The survivor's pension for your partner does not change due to your choice for the high-low arrangement. Please note: you can only make the choice for the high-low arrangement once. You cannot change this later. View a calculation example below.
An example without AOW
You want to receive a higher retirement pension from your retirement age to the age of 72. You then opt for a lower pension of 75 percent. Your personal information will look like this:
Accrued pension at the age of 68 (without high-low) | € 10,000 per year |
---|---|
From 68 to 72 years (with high-low) | € 12,400 per year |
From the age of 72 (with high-low) | € 9,300 per year |
