Pension accrual
If you are (partially) unable to work due to (partial) disability, your pension accrual continues. After the end of the second year of illness, you will no longer owe any premium for this. The non-contributory pension accrual applies not only to your old-age pension, but also to the survivor's pension. Moreover, you remain insured for the orphan's pension. Are you partially unfit for work? Then the accrual of your pension will also be partially continued. For that part, you no longer owe a premium. You do not have to do anything yourself for this. The UWV informs us if you are declared (partially) unfit for work and your employer informs us if you leave (partially) your employment due to occupational disability.
If disability renders you incapable of working, you will continue to accrue pension rights on your income up to € 137,800 under the flex pension plan. You will no longer contribute premiums towards that accrual. If your income is greater than € 137,800, your employer has taken out insurance for you with Centraal Beheer PPI. To find out more about that insurance, get in touch with Centraal Beheer PPI.
Please note!
With effect from 1 January 2025, the arrangements surrounding incapacity for work have been adjusted for members who became ill on or after 1 January 2023. Did you become ill before 1 January 2023 and subsequently become unfit for work? Then the conditions that applied before 1 January 2025 will apply. The non-contributory continuation of pension accrual will then start after you leave employment due to disability, but not earlier than three years after the first day of illness.
ANW shortfall insurance
If you took out (partial) Anw-gap insurance before you became unfit for work, you can continue this insurance. You will still have to pay premiums for this insurance. This will be deducted from your gross salary or disability pension after your employment is terminated due to disability. The insured level of the Anw-gap insurance cannot be changed anymore. However, you can stop this insurance at any time. This can be done using the ANW shortfall insurance form.
How will you receive updates about your pension accrual?
You will receive information about your pension accrual every year, in the form of the Uniform Pension Overview. That overview contains information about your retirement pension and how much your partner and children will receive in the event of your death.
What happens if the pension plan rules change?
Does the pension scheme change after you have left employment due to incapacity for work? Then the changes also apply to you.
