How much uncertainty do you find acceptable with respect to your pension?
Mid January, a large number of our members will receive an invitation to participate in the risk appetite survey that Philips Pensioenfonds is conducting. The purpose of this survey is to gain information about he risks that our members consider acceptable in the implementation of our investment policy. By participating, you can influence decision-making about investment policy in the future pension plan! The survey uses an interactive tool and it will take you less than 15 minutes to participate. Did you receive an invitation? Then we hope that you will participate in our survey.
You can participate up to and including 4 February (this period has been extended)!
On January 24 and 25, a large number of participants will receive a new invitation from us for the survey 'Future of pensions & risk attitude'. Last week the survey did not work properly because many participants attended the study at the same time. This has now improved and we now invite a smaller group of participants to participate at the same time. This way we ensure that you can complete the investigation properly. We attach great importance to the results, because they give us an idea of the preferences of our participants. We therefore ask you to spare a short time to complete this survey if you receive an invitation.
Have you already attempted to complete the survey? Then we are very sorry that this was not possible due to our actions. We hope that you will nevertheless be willing to complete the survey again after our new invitation.
Have you already managed to complete the questionnaire? Then we have received your input and you do not need to do anything now. Thank you for your participation!
Why it is important to take this survey?
A new pension scheme will apply to you in 2026. By participating in the research you can influence what the investment policy in your future pension scheme will look like! With your input, we can tailor the investments to the characteristics and preferences of you and other participants in your age category.

About participating in our risk appetite survey
If you were able to complete the survey without any problems, you do not need to do anything at this time. Are you unsure whether you have submitted the survey? Then click on the link. You will then see a screen stating that you have already submitted the survey. Do you enter the survey after clicking on the link? Then you have not yet completed the survey and you can continue where you left off or possibly go back to the beginning.
Immediately after the invitation was sent, there was great interest in the research. That is of course very good news. The downside was that the research became overloaded, causing many participants to get stuck. Obviously that shouldn't happen! The survey has now been technically improved. But to be on the safe side, we have sent the new invitations in parts, to ensure that you can complete the survey without technical problems.
We wanted to be sure that the technical problems would not occur again. That is why we followed a careful process, which included extensive testing to determine whether the adjustments to the research tool software led to the desired result. We did this by carrying out tests that put a heavy load on the system to see whether the research continued to work smoothly. After we had sufficient certainty about this the invitation was sent out again. To be on the safe side, we have sent the new invitations in parts, to ensure that you can complete the survey without technical problems.
The survey has been extensively tested in advance with regard to the texts that are shown and whether the correct amounts are included in the Pension Meter for participants with certain characteristics. What has not been sufficiently tested is how the survey functions if many participants complete the questionnaire at the same time. The research has already been conducted 50 times before for other pension funds, including pension funds that are larger than Philips Pensioenfonds. These problems did not occur there. Afterwards, the malfunction turned out to be caused by the software of the research tool. That has been resolved. But to be on the safe side, we have sent the new invitations in parts, to ensure that you can complete the survey without technical problems.
A large number of participants have received an invitation for our survey. This concerns a sample of the total participant population. So it may be true that you have not received an invitation.
We are very aware that this is not an everyday subject for our participants. But pension funds are obliged to also measure the preferences of participants. We have looked for a research method that allows participants to choose from pension scenarios that match their own situation to a certain extent. This method has been used before at other pension funds and good experiences have been gained there. To ultimately shape the investment policy, the results of the research are taken into account, but of course also other aspects, such as the characteristics of our participants.
The readability of our communication is of course important. Especially for our group of retirees. We are therefore pleased with your comment about readability. We would like to let you know that we have received your signal and we will see if we can improve this.
If you want to complete our survey, you have the option to zoom in on the screen via your browser. You can usually set this in the menu that appears when you click on the three dots at the top right of your screen. This may be a short-term solution that can help. If you choose not to participate, we obviously understand.
The survey does not work in Internet Explorer, but it does work in every other common browser. The survey works best on a tablet, PC or laptop. The survey also works on a smartphone, but is slightly less clear for one important question.
Yes, the survey is anonymous. The results will be processed anonymously and your personal data will not be linked to the results.
We would like to find out more about how much risk you are willing to take with your pension. We can use this information to design our investment policy. We have carried out a survey like this several times in recent years. Now, however, it is even more important for us to understand whether different age groups have different preferences. Under the new pension rules, we will be able to align the investments better to the characteristics of the separate age groups of our members. With the new system, you will have your own ‘pension savings’, which we can invest in the way that best suits your age category. Our survey gives you the opportunity to influence the decisions that we make about the future investment policy!
The short answer to that is: the new pension rules will apply to everyone who accrues a pension or receives a pension in the Netherlands. It does not matter whether you retire before or after the transition. We explain this below.
'Invaren'
The new rules assume that all pensions that have now been accrued, including those of those who have already retired, will fall under the new rules. In pension jargon we then speak of 'invaren'. The main rule may be deviated from if this would lead to a disproportionate disadvantage for certain groups of participants. It is not yet clear whether the accrued pensions will be withdrawn at Philips Pensioenfonds.
If you opt for retirement, we will take measures to ensure that fluctuations in your pension from year to year are limited as much as possible. We recently posted an explanation video on our website New rules for pensions | Philips Pensioenfonds that discusses the movements in your pension when the new pension rules apply. You will also find many questions and answers there.
The results contain information about how the Pension Fund's stakeholders view important themes. Also for decisions that the Fund has to take in the investment policy in the future pension scheme.
The survey has not been personalised. For this reason, you will see an estimate of the pension outcomes for three scenarios, involving three different investment methods. The survey makes general assumptions because it has not been personalised. For example, we assume 43 years of full pension accrual up to the age of 68 years. Another assumption concerns salary group. The amounts listed in the table are net amounts (after tax) and include a full AOW benefit.
Yes, you can withdraw from the surveyat any time. If you want to complete the survey later, you can simply click on the link in the email again. You then continue where you left off.
Yes, it is also desirable that you participate in our survey again. Based on the research in 2021, we have developed our first ideas for future investment policy. Before we definitively shape that policy, we would like up-to-date research data. That is why we ask you to participate again.
